The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra announces auditions for professionally trained and active instrumental soloists residing in Cyprus who are interested in professional collaboration with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra.
The auditions will be held on Sunday 10th of December 2017 from 12:00-19:00 at Pallas Theatre, Paphos Gate, Nicosia. The instrumentalists will be auditioned by the new Artistic Director & Chief Conductor of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra Mr. Jens Georg Bachmann.
This is an opportunity for professional instrumentalists to present their artistry to the new Maestro. Potential collaborations are contingent upon availability and allocation of specific concert programmes at the discretion of the Artistic Director. We will contact you should such a possibility arise.
- Cyprus should be the soloist’s permanent country of residence
- Clear evidence of completed academic degree(s) in professional performing and highest performing level at their instrument; extensive performing experience in public.
For pianists: two contrasting movements (fast/slow) of a concerto or one contrasting movement (fast/slow) each of two concerti of your choice (to be performed with or without a second piano) from the baroque/classic/romantic period of 10 mins total duration.
For other instrumentalists: two contrasting movements (fast/slow) of a concerto (to be performed with piano accompaniment) or one movement of a concerto (with piano accompaniment) and one other stylistically contrasting piece of your choice from the baroque/classical/romantic period repertoire for your instrument with or without piano accompaniment of 10 mins total duration.
The Maestro reserves the right to shorten each individual audition at his own discretion at any given time.
You are expected to provide your own accompanist. In case you do not have a pianist we could provide you with the contacts of several pianists who collaborate with the Foundation. You are responsible for directly contacting the pianist and covering his/her fee.
