Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra Rules

1. The Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra is an organization which consists of the Symphony Orchestra together with other preparatory groups, such as the Symphonic Wind Orchestra, preparatory string ensemble and other chamber groups, with the aim to reach the highest music level possible. Each new member is placed in a group according to his/her level and may be moved to other groups according to needs and his/her progress
2. All members of the orchestra should follow the instructions of the Artistic Director, the conductors, the teachers and their representatives
3. All members should come to all scheduled rehearsals, concerts, the Spring and Summer schools without any delay. Attendance registry will be taken at the beginning of the rehearsal and any delay will count as absence
4. Every absence should be justified in writing from the parent or the doctor or by any other official certificate, except for cases of national servicemen on duty
5. 3 absences, even if justified, could be the reason of re-consideration of the member’s participation
6. The Supervisor of the Orchestra should be informed in advance in all foreseeable cases of absence
7. All members should have their instruments tuned to A=442Hz and have warmed up before the appointed time that the rehearsal begins
8. All instruments and accessories, eg. mutes, reeds etc. should be in a good condition before the beginning of the rehearsal
9. The Supervisor should be informed immediately of any damage or other problems with instruments that belong to the orchestra
10. In order to keep their position in the orchestra members should practice their parts and come to rehearsals fully prepared
11. Lost or forgotten parts should be copied immediately at the responsible member’s own expense
12. Participation of any member in concerts and other public events of the Orchestra and its ensembles will be subject to the approval of the Artistic Director and will depend on the member’s satisfactory participation, level and progress
13. Smoking, intake of alcohol and use of forbidden substances are strictly forbidden at all activities of the orchestra
14. Participation in other orchestras or ensembles will be allowed only on approval of the Artistic Director of the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra.
