The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra musically invaded the life of Cypriot inhabitants in Lemesos and Lefkosia on the 28th and 29th of June 2014 respectively.
The idea was a metaphor of football elements in the music world, by transferring the unsuspected audience into a parallel dimension, where the football teams consisted of various orchestral instruments, the teams’ star players were famous composers, a conductor is the referee, and the passes are played with music notes – often reaching frantic speeds. The musicians, who entered from various angles into the square, wore football shirts with the names of composers from various countries that participate in the World Cup printed on their backs. After performing de Falla’s Ritual Fire Dance and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Flight of the Bumblebee, the Musicians dissolved within the crowd, as suddenly as they appeared, leaving the audience with an unforgettable experience!
