One of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra’s most prestigious concert series, Starlight welcomes great artists of the international music scene, globally acclaimed for their artistic excellence. Featuring masterpieces of the classical repertoire, the series offers audiences in Cyprus a unique opportunity to experience live performances by some of the most prominent musicians of our time.
OPERA
Opera and the art of lyric theatre form an important part of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra’s artistic activity. Beyond gala concerts featuring operatic repertoire, the Orchestra participates in significant opera productions: its established collaboration with the Pafos Aphrodite Festival is further expanded through new collaborations with international opera companies, broadening its contribution to this unique art form.
CLASSICAL AND CONTEMPORARY MASTERPIECES
The Classical and Contemporary Masterpieces series forms the cornerstone of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra’s artistic programme. It brings together masterpieces of the established symphonic repertoire with contemporary works, including Cyprus premieres, as well as commissions of new compositions by Cypriot composers. The series features distinguished international conductors and soloists, alongside acclaimed and emerging Cypriot artists.
FESTIVE CONCERTS
The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra’s Festive Concert series brings together musical events dedicated to the most significant moments of the year and of cultural life. From Christmas, Easter and New Year to national anniversaries and major cultural celebrations, these concerts celebrate the power of music to move, inspire and unite people and communities.
CROSSOVER CONCERTS
The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra’s Crossover Concerts series expands the boundaries of the orchestral experience, connecting symphonic music with a wide range of musical genres and art forms, beyond the standard classical repertoire. From film music and silent cinema accompaniment to jazz, musical theatre, Greek art song and international hit songs, symphonic rock and other contemporary musical trends, the series presents original musical productions designed to engage a broader audience.
FAMILY & EDUCATIONAL CONCERTS
The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra’s Family Concert series invites the Orchestra’s young friends and their families into a world of music, imagination, and inspiration. Through programmes specially designed for children, these concerts offer an engaging, educational, and high-quality musical experience, nurturing a love of music from a young age.
The Educational Concerts present specially designed programmes for students in both primary and secondary education. Developed and delivered in collaboration with the respective Music Education Inspectorates of the Departments of Primary Education and Secondary General Education of the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth, as well as with university music departments, these concerts enrich students’ musical education and foster a deeper appreciation of symphonic music.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH CONCERTS
Through its Community Outreach Concerts series, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra brings the joy of orchestral music to every corner of the island, reaching residents and visitors alike. Touring villages, municipalities and welfare institutions, the Orchestra presents engaging and accessible programmes for audiences of all ages in village squares, local theatres and other open or closed venues. All concerts are offered free of charge and are presented in collaboration with the local authorities and other organisations.
CHAMBER MUSIC SERIES
The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra’s Chamber Music series, presents a rich variety of ensembles with the Orchestra’s musicians, giving expression to a distinctive facet of their artistic identity. From masterpieces of the classical repertoire to beloved works and imaginative crossover programmes, each concert offers a captivating musical experience, bringing audiences closer to the performers through the exacting artistry and intimate musical dialogue that define chamber music.
