The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra Foundation proudly announces the release of a CD recording titled Alkis Baltas – “Symphonic Sounds from Cyprus” and we extend our warm thanks to Eurobank, the Main Sponsor of this production.
The recording comprises symphonic works inspired by Cypriot traditional melodies and rhythms, composed by Alkis Baltas. The works are performed by the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra, conducted by its Artistic Director Yiorgos Kountouris and the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra conducted by its Honourary Conductor Alkis Baltas.
The creation of this recording aims to the promotion of Cypriot traditional music, approaching a different, “symphonic” perspective with regards to the performance of traditional music: its performance by the Cyprus Symphony Orchestras – leading musical institutions of our country.
The Foundation’s aspiration and goal for this production is for it to become a tool for promoting Cypriot traditional music as an intrinsic part of the cultural heritage of the country, both on the island and abroad.
