TELETHON in collaboration with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra organizes a fundraising concert-Tribute to Maria Callas on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Maria Callas, at the Presidential Palace on Friday 16 June 2023, at 21:00. A cocktail will be offered at 19:30.
Maria Callas has been the greatest and most popular opera soprano whilst her emblematic voice and presence remains to this day a paradigm for artists and opera lovers alike, hailed as “La Divina”.
In this tribute, a stunning selection of famous arias and duets from the legendary singer’s repertoire will be presented by two extraordinary soloists: soprano Gulnara Shafigullina and tenor Diego Godoy, under the direction of maestro Günter Neuhold. The soprano and author of a biography of Maria Callas, Eleni Kanthou will present the programme.
A magical fundraising concert whose proceeds will all go to TELETHON.
The concert is held under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Cyprus Mr. Nikos Christodoulides and the First Lady Ms Philippa Karsera Christodoulides, Honorary Patron of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics.
