Violinist Kristóf Baráti was born in Budapest in 1979, in a family of musicians. He spent a large part of his childhood in Venezuela and, at the age of 8, gave a concert with the Maracaibo Symphony Orchestra. He began studying the violin with his mother and Emil Friedman in Caracas and later he continued his studies with Miklos Szenthelyi and Vilmos Tátrai in Budapest at the “Franz Liszt” Music Academy. He has won several prizes such as the First Prize at the “Rodolfo Lipizer” Competition in 1995, the Second Prize at the “Jaques Thibaud” Competition in 1996 and the Third Prize and Audience Prize at the “Queen Elisabeth” Competition in Brussels in 1997. Baráti has the privilege of playing on a 1703 Stradivarius named “Lady Harmsworth” kindly offered by the Stradivari Society. Concert highlights from 2001-2004 include guest appearances at the Colmar Festival under the direction of Vladimir Spivakov and the Szigeti Competition in Budapest, two live recording productions broadcasted by “France Musique” and recordings of the Bartók solo violin sonata and a Ravel sonata with Severin von Eckardstein, as well as his debut at Verona with a Paganini programme. During the 2005- 2006 season, important appearances include his debut in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, in Berlin with the Radio Symphony Orchestra, recital at the “Berliner Festpiele” festival, concert at the Berlin Philharmonie with the Berlin Radio Orchestra broadcasted live, and the International Elba Festival under the direction of Michael Guttman, where he received the best performer’s prize from Yuri Bashmet, director of the festival.

Conductor Marcin Nałęcz-Niesiołowski was born in 1972 in Gdynia. In 1996 he graduated with distinction from the Frederic Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw, where he studied symphonic and opera conducting with Professor B. Madey. In 1997 he was appointed Managing and Artistic Director of the Białystok Philharmonic. At the same time he is Artistic Director and Conductor of the Filharmonia Orchestra in Warsaw and a guest conductor of the Grand Theatre-National Opera. In September 2005 he was appointed Managing and Artistic Director of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic, a newly-established institution set up by the Minister of Culture and the Marshal of the Podlasie Voivodeship. Marcin Nałęcz-Niesiołowski has developed a fine career, cooperating closely with orchestras such as the Warsaw Philharmonic, Sinfonia Varsovia, National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice and the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Warsaw, while abroad he performs at numerous music festivals. Foreign tours have taken him to the U.S., Russia, Mexico, Morocco, Spain and Belgium. Marcin Nałęcz-Niesiołowski’s discography includes over a dozen CDs, two of which have won nominations for the “Fryderyk” awards in Poland. He has also made numerous recordings for the radio and television, as well as recordings of popular and film music.
